                      About Reagan Schmissrauter

Reagan is an ambitious sixteen year old student at the Baylor School of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He would like to pursue art as a profession.
"Sharing with others what visually touches me is important," he says.
Reagan wants to discover the world through art.
"It will take me places I would have never dreamed of being and will introduce me to people I would have never otherwise met," he says.
Traveling is important to Reagan as an artist, even if it is an hour long walk or in another country, it's what inspires him. Reagan will continue to expirement with different subject matter, media, techniques, ideas and styles. His goal this year is to raise enough money to spend a month during the summer of 2005 in Rothenburg, Germany, painting... Maybe you can help by buying one of his paintings.

Summary of Italy and Germany:

I will never forget this amazing experiance. I learned so much about life and art in Italy and Germany and loved the culture and every second that I breathed there. I will never forget the friendships and the people that I met in both Italy and Germany. Truly an inspirational and amazing experiance and I will always be thankful to those that helped me make it there. I will miss the culture and the people very much.

Statement about "The Canvas of My Life"

I am not finished with this painting. But the main idea in this painting lyes in the tree limbs and the cloth I am holding. What does this mean?
The tree limbs stabbing into me represents the cycle of life. The earth takes us back as we die. We belong to the earth as we are ultimately bound to it.
The cloth that im holding represents a canvas. It is the only thing that I am holding in this painting. This is saying that the canvas (art) is all that I have. Meaning it is the only thing that will stick with me after I die... Friends and family don't count because they die too.... This is saying a peice of my spirit stays in my artwork long after I die. Stating that even if there is no eternal life, my spirit is perpetual through art.
So this painting is simply alluding to art, and how my spirit will live long after I die. And you can figure the rest out for yourself...
